If there’s one thing you should know about us here at Romance Travel Concierge is that when we travel, we enjoy ourselves a boozy lunch. But put us in the middle of one of the most historic, beautiful cities in Italy, feed us, AND pour us a glass (or two) of wine and we’ll fall in love!

Our RTC Pick of the Week is Florence’s Cantinetta Antinori, a winery located on the ground floor of the Antinor Mansion, which boasts some of the most extraordinary Florentine architecture from between the 13th- 15th century.

¬†Upon entering the mansion, you will find the doors leading to the Cantinetta and symbol of the Craft Guild of the “Vinattieri”, where the first member of the Antinori family, Giovanni di Piero, was inscribed in 1385. ( Note: one of our favorite aspects about this place is its history and tradition.)

Their restaurant, Rinuccio 1800, is also open to the public for lunch and dinner. The delicious menu includes everything from beef sliced with Pecorino cheese to chestnut-flour cake with ricotta cheese. For those interested and of course thirsty, it’s still possible to sample all of the Antinori wines either by the bottle or by the glass. You can also choose whether to taste them with a selection of their house blends accompanied with various food pairings from the kitchen, all still prepared with the family’s secret ingredients.

After your lunch and wine tour, we suggest you round out the afternoon by enjoying panoramic views of Tuscany and the surrounding vineyards. (Do not, I repeat, do NOT forget your camera.) It’s truly one of the most delightful afternoons you’ll spend in Italy and that’s saying a lot.
Cheers, Romance Travelers!
